Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi is located in Thrissur city, of Kerala, in India.[1]It was established on 26 April 1958, inautgurated by then Indian Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Its aim is to foster and develop Kerala dance, drama and music and to promote the cultural unity of Kerala. It works in close collaboration with the Sangeet Natak Akademi in New Delhi for the enrichment of Indian culture. A regional theatre is constructed in Thrissur with all modern facilities.
The academy is starting a cultural centre at Keraleeya Samajam in Bahrain on October 1, 2010. The Bahrain centre is the first cultural extension centre to be opened by the academy. The academy would also set up similar centres in Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore.[2]
